Basically, to make a duct tape dress form, you wrap yourself in duct tape, cut it off, seal it up again, and stuff it with batting. Read more detailed instructions here.
Here is a great video on making your own duct tape dress form. What they didn’t mention is that you have to be wearing a long t-shirt or dress (it is a dress in the video) that you don’t mind sacrificing for the cause. The duct tape sticks to that, and you cut it when you cut the form off of your body.
I bought a $3 t-shirt last summer and was going to make such a dress form as one of my summer projects. Alas, it never happened. But, I’m thinking again about how I need some new clothes, and they would fit so much better if they were made just for me.
The problem is that I’ve only made a handful of clothing items in my life. I usually rely on my mother to make me things when I need new clothes. She’s much better than me at sleeves, and zippers, and clasps, and buttonholes. You know, things that are important to making clothes. I will never learn if I never try, though.
So here is some inspiration for you and for me. (By the way, I ran the idea past my husband and he has no problem wrapping me up in duct tape. He seems to like the idea.)

The video is great. If I sewed, I would make one.
