I am so excited because I got new bookshelves for Christmas. Today, my husband is setting them up. This will help me keep my arts and crafts organized because I will have room for all of my books!
As I cleaned up the area for the bookshelves, I found some pieces of fabric that I really like, but never found projects for. I am going to list three on my Etsy page in my, ‘Cleaning out my stash’ section.
Thank you Amos and Raina for the bookcases! I love them!
It is always nice to finish something.
Last night I finished stitching my rose pillowcase. Now I have to wash, dry, and press it. Tonight I finished three pair of earrings. And I also made another sale.
I’ve been spending a lot of time on the Buy and Kick-Off Forum. It gives me exposure for my items and people to talk to while I wait for a sale. I’m starting to think it is worthwhile to spend time in the forums. Although I realize this: Once school starts again, I won’t have time to do that.
Tonight while I waited for someone to take over as listmaster, I picked up the scarf that I started on the way home from Christmas with my family. Here’s a picture of it so far.

It will be a long skinny scarf and it will go on Etsy. I’m looking forward to finishing what I started.
After having my sister take pictures with my other sister’s camera, I know what I want for my birthday! A new camera. I’d like a Nikon. Probably $200 could buy me a decent one that would take close-up. My digital camera just stinks in comparision.
Then, on top of my camera problems, I can’t get my scanned documents to upload to Etsy. I don’t know if it is because they are not 1000 x 1000 pixels or what. I’d still like to showoff my pictures, so if I can get them uploaded on Flickr, I will post them for you to see.
I made these earrings while watching the Buy and Kick Off forum. They are made of Sterling Silver French Hook Earwires and Sterling Silver headpins and eyepins. I used three different kinds of beads: czech glass, acrylic pearl, and polymer clay. They are blue, and very pretty.

Ever since I started this Etsy thing, I find myself on the computer more and more and crafting less and less. Tonight I went on the forums trying to find ways to promote my work.
Here is one link that I posted a lot: http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5387323
I think these are beautiful earrings. They turned out very nice in the picture. So far, posting the link hasn’t provided many hits.
So I think I will spend less time on that in the future. Maybe I should just make things and let the people come to me.
Thoughtfully yours,
Shauna
I made my first sale! http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=6934057
I figured out why this item sold as well. I added a necklace to the earrings I had priced at $7. I meant to price this set at $15, and ended up selling it for $7. I don’t make as much money, but I am still happy. Hopefully I can do a good job packaging and mailing this so I can get good feedback and build my online reputation.

Well, my family never believed in Santa Claus (gasp! I know.) So, we got to open our presents on Christmas Eve. My husband and I have been staying at my parent’s house for the last couple of days and we’ve been having a lot of fun.
Yesterday, I talked my mom and my sister into going to the Azillianbeads in Eugene. I bought some screwback clip-on earrings because neither of my sisters have their ears pierced. We also made some other purchases. I finally picked up some round nosed pliers that I think I will be satisfied with. I also bought some middle sized and smaller black Czech glass beads, some findings, and some beautiful blue glass flower beads. There might have some other purchases that made their way into my bag, but if I post them, my husband might read the blog and say, “You bought what?!?” I try to just buy a little here and there, but it adds up.
Anyway, we’ve been making jewelry–earrings and necklaces. My bracelet of seed beads and acrylic beads spilled on me twice before I gave up and decided I can make other kinds of bracelets. Those seed beads are just so tiny and annoying after you spend a lllllllooooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggg time beading them and then the knot breaks and they spill everywhere. Maybe I need to use flex wire and some crimping beads instead of string and a knot.
My brother in-law just walked in and the party has begun. I might post some pictures later. My little sister has an awesome camera, and we are going to take pictures of all the new earrings I just made. Talk to you later!

That is the question. My sister told me about a swapping site called Swap-Bot. The address is http://www.swap-bot.com. I signed up for a couple swaps, but I’m not sure if I’ll like it or not. My hope is to get into a bead swap and trade some of my glass beads for some other ones and have more variety.

Here are the pillowcases I begun yesterday. I was really looking forward to using the veregated #115 DMC embroidery floss that I purchased at Heart of the Home, but they are turning out differently than I expected. Here is the package with the example on it:

Here is how mine are turning out so far. The variations on the thread go from very dark red to a bright red. The color reminds me of black cherries. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked them, but I think they are growing on me. And they might go very well with a bedroom that is themed in black, white, and red.
